Dr. Stuart Gluckman opened Mendon Village Animal Hospital in 1979 and was joined by Dr. Allan Reichenstein seven years later. Together, they built the animal hospital we are in today! Over the years, Dr. Gluckman and Dr. Reichenstein have hand-picked veterinarians and staff who share their passion for providing quality veterinary care in a friendly, family-like environment.
We are proud to be able to say that some of our clients have been a part of Mendon Village Animal Hospital since the very beginning. We are grateful to our clients who have put their trust in us for so many years, and are happy to welcome new clients and patients to the MVAH family!
Mendon Village Animal Hospital has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association since 1989. Less than 10% of the animal hospitals in the entire Rochester area, and less than 15% of hospitals in the United States and Canada combined can claim this distinction.
The American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in North America. Unlike human hospitals, veterinary hospitals are not required to be accredited. This means they are allowed to operate by their own standards of care, with no organization to oversee them. Animal hospitals that wish to be accredited by AAHA voluntarily submit themselves for an onsite inspection and a comprehensive review of their practices and protocols.
Every three years an AAHA representative travels to our hospital in order to evaluate us on over 900 different standards. These standards are constantly updated, and cover every detail of what it takes to provide the best possible care for your pets, from client service and medical records to patient care and anesthesia. We work hard to meet and exceed these standards, and are proud of our status as an AAHA accredited animal hospital!

Helping Paws Fund
Mendon Village Animal Hospital has established a fund to be used to help pets in need of medical services where there are financial limitations. This fund is comprised of donations made by our hospital in honor and in memory of our patients who have crossed the rainbow bridge.
We also accept donations from clients who wish to contribute to this fund. Please note that because we are not a charitable organization, we are not able to offer receipts for tax deduction purposes.
Presents for Paws Donation Drive
At the end of every year we host a donation drive to benefit some of the local rescue organizations who give so much to pets in need in our community. We spend the holiday season collecting food, toys, bedding and supplies to deliver to those who provide a safe place for dogs and cats to await their forever homes.
